The Inca Jungle Trail combines adventure sports such as trekking, mountain biking, rafting and zip line to reach Machupicchu. It is the most popular tour among young travelers in search of adrenaline. It is an alternative to the conventional Inca road but with the same final destination: Machupicchu. The excursion allows you to enjoy a varied fauna, colorful flora, a variety of landscapes and climates such as coffee, coca, corn, fruit, among others. In this tour there are no camps, since the accommodation and food is made in lodging houses. This excursion also allows to support the economy of the towns through which it crosses.
Day 01: Cusco – Santa Maria
The tour begins at 7:00 am. Sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you are driven until the 4,200 meters above sea level to the top of the snow mountain of Abra Malaga, once here you take a deep breath we will provide you all our complete safety equipment such as helmets, the gloves, the knee padsa nd the elbow pads.
Finally after took the most famous pictures at this point we will star with our adventure discovering one of the most espectacular views over the jungle of this valley stoping in differents places to get more pictures.
Then we descend from Abra Malaga or San Luis, depending of the time from where we will go down by mountain bikes for about 3 hours to reach Huaman Marca, along the route we will see a diverse landscape of mountains and jungle, once in Huaman Marca we will get our bus to reach our first lodge (No hostal) located after 10 more minutes after Santa Maria town for our lunch.
Around 02:00 pm we will have the opportunity for rafting the Urubamba River , whose rapids ranging from level II to III. After that we will stay overnight in our private and comfortable rooms.
Day 02: Santa Maria – Santa Teresa
We will have breakfast at 5:30 am before beginning our hike along the Urubamba River banks. Along the way, we will observe different varieties of jungle birds, medicinal plants that the locals use to cure diseases and exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple, papaya, avocado, coffee and coca leaves plantations. After 2 hours walking, we enter the original Inca stone path at 1.758 meters and we get a beautiful view point to see all the jungle valley.
After this viewpoint, we walk 3 more hours to Qellomayo where we will have lunch in a countryside restaurant. We will continue walking for 3 more hours along the riverbank, we cross a cable car (S/10.00 PEN) then we reach the Cocalmayo hot spring (S/10.00 PEN), once there, we have one hour and a half to sink into the warm water and let the aches of the trail melt away. After this relaxing stop, we get a local transport (S/10.00 PEN) for 10 minutes to reach our comfortable lodge in Santa Teresa.
Day 03: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast we start with our zip line adventure flying 150 meters above the ground over rivers and jungle! The zip line option includes transport to the zip line facility and 5 zips. Are you brave enough to lean back into the upside down monkey position? Or spread your wings and dive head first in the incredible superman position.
Afterwards the group will stop at the Hidrolectrica station for lunch before continuing the trek.
Another 3 hours trekking along the train tracks brings us to the tourist town of Aguas Calientes. Travelers have the option to visit the local hot springs or relax and explore the town before dinner.

Day 04: Machu Picchu – Cusco
Around 4:00 am, we will get ready to climb the Inca staircase for approximately 01 hour and 20 minutes to arrive at the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. After entering the site around 6:20 am, our 2 hours guided tour begins, where you will learn more about the most important places of Machu Picchu such as: the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the three windows and various cemeteries. After the guided tour, you will have 2 more hours free to discover Machu Picchu by yourself once again, and then 10.30 am we start to come back to Hydroelectric train station to get our van transportation to Cusco.
If you want to stay all day in Machu Picchu and / or to climb up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you have two options:
You may stay one more night in Aguas Calientes town (Additional price $20.00 USD for one night accomodation), otherwise you will not arrive in time to take the bus from hydroelectric station to return to Cusco, since climbing any of the mountains takes almost three hours, round trip, and our transportation departs at 15:00 pm in the afternoon from hydroelectric Station to Cusco, in this case, we will pick you up on the fifth day from hydroelectric station to Cusco at 15:00 pm.
The other option would be to return by train one way from Aguas Calientes town to Ollantaytambo village (Additional price $80.00 USD. Inca Rail or Perú Rail company, likewise you can buy here in Cusco once you arrive), in this case you will return the same day to Cusco (the day 04), where insted of pick you up from Hydroelectric station, we will pick you up from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
