Lake Titicaca has a long list of differents islands that rest on the same lake, there are three that are the most visited daily by tourists:
Uros Island: Set of floating islands built with totora that rest on the crystalline waters of the lake. A place inhabited by settlers of Aymara origin, considered one of the oldest Andean civilizations, because they developed long before the Incas. A citadel on water that has 40 interconnected islands that have houses, schools and churches. And with a population that sustains its economy through activities such as fishing, crafts, tourism and bartering.
Amantaní Island: Located three hours by boat from the city of Puno, this island is considered the largest of Lake Titicaca. It is known as the “island of love”, due to its majestic fields, huge eucalyptus trees and beautiful flowers like the cantuta. A virgin town where the inhabitants and travelers move from one place to another walking, allowing experiencing an experiential tourism.
Taquile Island: Known worldwide for its textile works, this island inhabited by Quechua speakers is characterized by hospitality that bridles its visitors, who experience an experiential or rural tourism staying in their homes and learn more about the community. In addition, it is a perfect destination for adventure tourism, traveling the 567 steps before reaching the highest part of the island.
Day 01: Uros and Amantani island.
The first day our service includes pick up at the bus station of the city of Puno and then we will take you directly to our office or to your hotel in case you have already booked one in the city of Puno, later, once you have Once the pick-up time has been coordinated for the second time, we will go directly to Lake Titicaca to board our speedboat and begin our adventure on the highest lake in the world.
For the pick up from the airport of the city of Juliaca a previous coordination is made with days of anticipation and it has an additional price, since the distance from the city of Juliaca to the city of Puno lasts almost an hour and a half, and the schedules flights to Juliaca from any other city in Peru have different schedules depending on the flight company.
Once we board the ship, our first visit to the floating islands will be the island of Uros, the guide will explain about the construction, the customs of the inhabitants of this island, after the free time, we sail in the same boat to the second island, Amantani¡¡
When we arrived to Amantani island the families will be waiting for us to go to their modest homes and stay, then the traditional lunch prepared by families with local products. In the afternoon we will walk to the pre-Inca temple called Pachatata, from where you can admire the immensity of Lake Titicaca and the sunset.
In the local house you will have the opportunity to get dinner and at the end we will pass the night in a room of the Amantani family.
Day 02: Amantani – Taquile – Puno.
After breakfast at 8:00 a.m. In the same boat we will sail towards the island of Taquile. We took the walk from the port to the main square during the course. You can appreciate beautiful panoramic views of the lake and the Peruvian – Bolivian mountain range and discover the cultural richness of the native inhabitants. When you arrive at the square you will have free time, then we will go to taste the typical lunch of the island, then we will return to our boat where we expect to return to Puno, once in the port of Puno and, finally, the transfer to your hotel. or our office in case you leave some suitcases or backpacks that arrive in the city at 17:00 p.m. and end of our service.
